In all, 928,376 bales of greasy and 145,912 bales of scoured had been appraised. Thoy averaged : Greasy 14.72 d per lb; scoured 22.86 d per lb The total value was £25,340,540. Tho Government had fixed maximum cargo rates between Melbourne and the Gippsland Lakes and intervening ports, at the rates operating on Juno 30, plus 2s 6d per ton; excluding sugar contracts, between Brisbane and Gladstone, rates existing cm May 14. pins 5s per ton. Mr Hugihes announced that it is impossible to fix the nrice of meat without fixing the price of live stock.
