The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held, yesterday. There was a good attendance, and Mr J. Macandrew (president) ocoupied the chair. ThesDhairman reported on his recent visit to Wellington, where he had acted as one of the delegates to the Agricultural Conlerence, ana uxplained iully wnat uad taken place in connection with the remits from th.s society. \ The Chairman of the Otago Patriotio and General Welfare Association wrote in connection with tho necessity for raising a large sum of money for the benefit of our hghting men and their families.— It was resolved that every effort be made to induce members to subscribe liberally in the direction desired. Messrs DaJgety and Co. wrote giving results of experiments made in connection w.th the allowance of Ub per cwt, draft on woolpacks.' It was pointed out that apparently any change in the custom prevailing in the trade in New Zealand had to bogin in England, and therefore those ruling the trade at Home should be the people to approach m getting the desired rebate —It was resolved to thank Mr George Black for the trouble he had taken in this matter. j T -r, T ' Ritchie of the Grounds Committee) reported that the committee had met the town clerk of Dunedin with the view to establishing ,a pound at Tahuna Park—The question of arrangement was left in the hands of the Grounds Ooiumittee with power to act. The St. Kikla Borough Council wrote m reply to a letter from the society, stating that it comd not see its way to remit any portion of the rates now charged to the society on Tahuna Park, Mr C. R. Bossenoo wrote in connection with the essay competitions on the Winter bnow and offered suggestions as to points etc.—lt was resolved to thank Mr Bossence ior his generous assistance, his letter to be referred to the Winter Show Committee for consideration.
