The Labour Council has adopted the report of a committee appointed to consider a shorter working day. The committee recommended' the unions to take a ballot on the question of the adoption of a 44-bour -week. MELBOURNE, June 22. The Federal Parliament has been prorogued until July 11. (Received June 22, at 11.10 p.m.) A Government Gazette announces the appointment of a special Federal. Board of Commissioners to investigate the handling, storage, and transport of wheat. The Fruit-growers' Association urged t-he coramorrwealth Government to control the firuit-preserving industrv and guarantee factories and growers fixed prices; also to reduce the excise on spirits made from fruit. Mr Hughes suggested _ the holding of a conference on the question.
