. NOT LIKE RIOTING. . LONDON, April 17. (Received April 18, at 9.30 p.m.) A Berne wireless message states that the general striko in Berlin, with its accompanying orderly demonstrations, was very carefully organised by- the newly-formed independent Socialist' Part y—'hitherto the Socialist minority in the Reichstag. All factories, including tho munition factories, were closed. Herr Ledebour and other leaders addressed the strikers outside the factories. Twelve converging the majority of those taking part being women, old men, and boys—marched to the Unter don Linden, where they were met by denso crowds of striker;; singing Labour revolutionary songs and shouting : "Give us food!" A noteworthy feature \ was that the strikers cheered'the military guards before the palace and those inside the Brandenburger gate. • Ultimately the demonstrators separated in perfect order of procession. GENERAL STRIKE ADMITTED. AMSTERDAM, April 17. Berlin officially admits that a general strike is in progress. Troops are in readiness at the barracks, and .are concentrated -it the danger points. Women attended the -workmen's meeting which discussed the food and political situation.
