THE CURTAILED RAILWAY SERVICE.

TAKE EFFECT ON MAY 6. The Railways Department informs us that tho alterations in the time-table, under the scheme of curtailed services, will take effect from Sunday, May 6. NO SUNDAY TRAINS. No trains will bo run on Sundays. Therefore thero will be no Sunday trains between Dunedin and Port Chalmers commencing on Sunday May 6. The seaside train will run from Dunedin to Palmerston on Saturday, , May 5, as usual at 1.25 p.m., ami there will be the usual train from Palmerston at 5 o'clock on Monday morning. THE EXPRESS TRAINS., ' Express trains will leave Dunedin for Christchurch at 8 a.m. and 11.15 a.m., and down trains will leave Christchurch at 8.45 a.m. and 12.25 p.m., tho earlier arriving at Dunedin at 4.58 p.m. and the late one arriving at Dunedin at 9.25 p.m. Dining cars will not be attached to these trains. Timo for a meal will be allowed at Oamaru, and refreshments may bo obtainable at Palmerston and Ashburton. The 6.10 a-m. express from Invercargill to Dunedin. and the 4.15 p.m. express Dunedin to Invercargill will not run. The 8.30 a.m. express from Dunedin to Invercargill and 1.25 p.m. express from Invercargill will run daily, and on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays will connect at Gore with the train to and from Kingston. THE SUBURBAN SERVICES. The following trains only will run between Dunedin and Port Chalmers (Lower): Dunedin: Depart 7.22 a.m., 10.15 a.m., 12.10 p.m., 2.30 p.m. (except on Saturdays), 4.15 p.m., 5.15 p.m., 6.15 p.m. On Saturday additional trains will run at 10.55 a.m., 1.17 p.m., 9.30 pjn., and 11.15 p.m. Train from Port Chalmers for Dunedin will run daily at: 7.9 a.m., 8.17 a.m., 11.30 a.m., 1.15 p.m., 3.15 p.m., 5.15 p.m., and 6.15 p.m. In addition there will be trains on Saturdays at. 12.15 p.m.. 7.0 p.m., and 10.15 p.m. Between Dunedin and Mosgiel tho service will be: — From Dunedin: 6.15 a.m.. 7.15 a.m., 11 a.m., 2.15 p.m., 3.50 p.m., 5.15 p.m., and 6.15 p.m. daily. On Saturdays additional trains will run at 12.15 p.m., 1.15 p.m., 9.35 p.m., and ILIS p.m. Trains from Mosgiel leave at 7.12 a.m., 8.22 a.m., 1.22 p.m., 3.30 p.m., 5.10 p.m., 6 p.m.,' 6.50 p.m. On Saturdays additional trains will run at 12.25 p.m., 2.15 p.m., 10.15 pjn., and 11.55 p.m. . OTHER ALTERATIONS). The afternoon train for Oamaru- now leaving at 3.13 p.m. will leave at 2.55 p.m., and the present 5.27 p.m. train for Palmerston will leave at 4.30 p.m. The train now leaving Dunedin for Clinton at 9.10 a.m. will leave at 8.55 a.m., and tho present 4.30 p.m. train for Clinton will leave at 4 p.m. This train will connect daily with trains for Outram and Lawrence. The 6 a.m. Monday, 6.15 p.m. Wednesday, and 8.5 p.m. Saturday trains from Balclutha to Owakaand back will not run. The train now leaving Maclennan at 6.5 a.m.' on Fridays will leave at 7 a.m., and will return from Balolntha at. 4.50 p.m.
