(Per United Pbess Associations • m A-*- April 16, ine Acting Prime Minister has received advice that tho first portion of the 23rd Reinforcements reached a certain port on the due date, all well. DRAFT LEAVING TO-DAY. A draft of 38 men, whose leave has expired, will leave for camp to-day. This total is made up of 24 men from In-vercar-gill, one from Milton, four from Dunedin, and nine from Oamaru. GOING TO THE FRONT. A social function was held in the Caversham Presbyterian Hall, when the choir entertained Mr Clem Trotter on the eve of his departure for Trcntham. Mr Forster (choir master) complimented Mr Trotter on tho splendid spirit he had shown, and hoped tnat tho time would not be. far distant when ho would be back in his old place again. Mr J. F. Thomson presented Mr Trotter with a' set of military brushes, suitably inscribed. | The first section of tho 24-th Reinforcements included Private Alexander Mee (Kuri Bush). While he was on final leave his Brighton and Kuri Bush friends met to bid him au revoir. During the evening Mr Leitch presented the guest with a wristlet watch, military brushes,. and a fountain pen. While on leave Private Mce joined the ranks of the bendicts, and on their return to Brighton, after a brief honeymoon, he and his wifo -were tendered a social evening and presented with an inscribed silver teapot from the Presbyterian Choir, of which they are both old members.. On Wednesday evening the residents of Hina Hina tendered Private Robt. Pullar, who is homo on final leave from Featherston, a valedictory social. Mr Jas. Wyber, who presided, presented Private Pullar with a wristlet watch, and wished him a safe and speedy return. I On Friday evening, Private S. J. Devenney, of Wedderburn (26th Reinforcements), who is down cri final leave, was entertained by Mrs D. Ferguson, Albany street. A goodly number of his town and country friends assembled to bid him good-bye. WOUNDED. • The parents of Signaller H.- Facer, of Port Chalmers, have received word that he was wounded recently at the front. DR STUART MOORE. Dr Stuart Moore, director of the Gymnastics and Massage School at tho Dunedin Hospital, has accepted an offer to join tho Expeditionary Force in tho capacity of specialist in gymnastics and electrical treatment. That his knowledgo and services in this department will bo of paramount importance to wounded soldiers and those racked by the stress of active service conditions is obvious. Dr Moore is under orders to leave Dunedin in a few days.
