EXPLOSIONS IN UNITED STATES
REMARKABLE LIST DURING WAR.
A large number of explosions and a still greater number of fires have occurred since tho war began in tho United States. The majority of them are believed' to havo been tho work of German agents. Following is a list of the chief explosions: — 1915.—January 28: Fivo sheds and 180,0001b of rifle powder, Wilmingt-on, Delaware. February 3: Destruction of Roebling steel works at Trenton, New Jersey. August 30: Two powder mille at Wilmington, men killed. Shrapnel factory near Baltimore crippled. November 10: Great firo and explosion •it Bethlehem steel works; many g-uns destroyed ; no loss of life. December 1: Thivty-ono men killed and many wounded at Dupont works, Wilmington, by explosion which shattered windows within radiuvs of four miles. 1916.—January 9: Fifteen men killed and 20 wounded_ at Dupont powder plant at Oarney's Point, near Philadelphia. January 11: Fivo explosions in two days at Dupont works, Wilmington ;no Jives lost. May 15: Four further explosions at Dupont factory 'at Gibbstown, New Jersey; 14 killed, 41 injured. July 30: Thirty explosions, which, caused great aliirm in Now York and towns within a radius of 30 miles. December 12: Three men killed at Aetna Chemical Company's works at Fort Pitt. The explosions of July 30 last in New Jo rsoy destroyed property worth over £5.000.000. Somo 50 people only were wounded and threo or four killed.
