FIRES.
Tho Firo Brigade received a call at 9.30 last evening to a firo in a confoctioncry shop in George street, owned by Mr T. •Smith, butcher, and occupied by the Misses Judge. 'JTio outbreak, which apparently originated ill a cupboard under the staircase, was quickly subdued, the damage being confined to a bad smoking and scorching. No particulars of the insurances were ascertainable.
