, Seventeen men voluntarily presented themselves for examination at the Kensington Hall on Friday night. Tomlinson. of the Royal Engineers, lias been soverelv wounded in France. His injuries inoludo a fracfcurwl jaw and- tho loss of a leg. Captain Tomlinson, who is a Dunedin boy, and an old Otago School of Mines student, went early m tho war from copper mines in Central Korea, to England to enlist. "PRISONER, IN GERMANY. Bloomfield, has been officially reported a prisoner of war' in Germany. Flight-commander Bloomfield was reported missing early in March. Commander Bloomfield at one time resided in Auckland. When war broke out he was, at Home studying architecture, and ho enlisted in tho Royal Flying Corps. Shortly before falling into tho enemy's hands ho was promoted to flight-oommander. N.E. VALLEY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION. Tho North-East Valley branch of the Women's Patriotic Association mot on Thursday afternoon and evening, when the following work was made ready to bo sent to the Early Settlers' Hall:—27 balaclavas, 23 pairs socks, 14 housowifes, 32 handkerchiefs, 5 suits pyjamas. For Red Cross Rooms: 1 dozen pairs ward slippers, 8 limb rests, 3 shirts, 3 dysentery pads, 3 dozen bandages. Tho committee gratefuly acknowledges the following- donations minion Gift Fund: Mrs Martin, "Friend," Mrs R. Smith, Mrs H. Thompson, Mrs M : llier, Mrs and Miss Bradley. Donations of money for funds: Mrs Monogan, "Little Joan's Bead Money/' Sister Lysbeth. In connection with the stall (and collecting boxes) recently held at the Gardens tram terminus, tho sum of £29 9s was raised for the general fund of tho association. DIED FROM "WOUNDS. Mrs William J. Goodman, of 6 Stafford street, Paddington, New South Wales has been informed that her husband. Privato W. J. Goodman, son of tho late Mr John Goodman, of Christchurch, died of wounds received in France on March 4, 1917. H c left Sydney on December 20. 1915, with tho Tramway Contingent, being previously employed by tho signalling department of the tramwas scrvice.
