RACING IN WAR TIME
MEETING OF CONFERENCE ADVOCA'IED. (F«* OKITKB PSBSS ArsociatiokJ CHRISTCHURCH, March 27 The Canterbury Jockey Club lias had the question of racing in war time under consideration for some time, and has written to other clubs soliciting their views on the subject. To-day, at a special meeting, the committee of the club passed the following resolution :—That the prolongation of the war and the serious situation of the Empire are causing a strong and growing feeling among sportsmen and others that early consideration of the racing question is advisable. The committee of the C.J.C. is strongly of opinion that the racing authori ; ties sliojld approach the Government witH reference to any possible adjustments of racing matters, and with this end in view the committee urges the president of the Racing Conference immediately to call conference together to discuss the situation. "
