SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE

Considerable interest. is being taken by married in the establishment of the Second Division League, and it is- gratifying to learn that a large number have signified their intention of becoming members. It is worthy of notico that the formation of similar leagues i.s being taken up with enthusiasm in other centres, and with a view of 'bringing all these bodies under one organisation the l&cal league has sent letters to the leading newspapers throughout the dominion, sotting forth its objects and making suggestions as to what it regards as a wise and reasonable policy. ,

GOING TO THE FRONT. A social evening was held at Downshirc, Lauder, amongst the many employees who are working on the estate in honour of Mr \ Fred W. Wilson, a popular farmer, who has volunteered his services to King and country for the' third time, on the eve of his leaving for Trentham. The programme included presentations from' employees, consisting of set of pipes in Morooco leather case, cash body belt, fountain pen, and an illuminated wristlet watch suitably inscribed. The evening concluded with He's A Jolly Good Fellow," followed with "God Save the King."
