MELBOURNE, January 31 (Received Feb. 1, at 0.25 a.m.) Mr Hughes and Mr Cook have had a further conference and have decided, despite the attitude of Labour and the Opposition, noil to abandon their efforts to form a v National Government. . < jMr Hughes has received a communication from Mr Lloyd George showing that the scope_ of the Imperial Conference has been considerably enlarged, and it is now more than, ever necessary for Australia to be directly represented. -No developments are expected before Parliament meets next .week.
