A record number of members of the South v Dunedin Church of Christ attended the first service held in tho new place of worship yjust erected at tho corner of King Edward street and Macandrew road. Mr L J Mathieson (Nelson) presided, and exhorted the church from tho text, " Constrained by tho Love of Christ." Notwithstanding the increased accommodation provided in the new building it was found impossible to provide seats for all who attended tho service in the ovening, althougu seats -were placed in tho aisles and porches. Mr Mathieson choice for his evening subject ihq Soundation Truth of the Christian Keiigion, upon which ho preached a con'vmcuig sermon, quoting the most notable •writers and students of the centuries in support of the divinity of tho Christ. The choir assisted by friends from otiier ..churches, rendered several anthems under the leadership of Mr D. Eobbs, and Mr H V;' f£? ttoa , P resided at tho organ.
