From the beginning of February the price of illustrated monthly magazines will be increased by Id. Compared with the previous November, imports increased by £17,300,232 and exports by £6,489,088, while re-exports decreased by £1,175,923. MELBOURNE, December 8.
The Labour Conference carried a motion urging an amendment of the Constitution, 'to empower the commonwealth Parliament to abolish Legislative Councils and State Governors, and urged Labour Senators, in view of the enormous expenditure and the unsatisfactory and inconsistent reports received concerning the army, to move for the appointment, of a commission to inquire into the management of the Australian army. *
