WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATIONS.
CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON
As a result of an invitation issued by Lady Liveipool, the following ladies met m confercnce in Wellington to consider mattus 1 elating to women's patriotic work. —Miss .Stewart and Mi'-s Burt (secretarj) l)uncdin; Mrs Gunson and Miss Speddnig (secretary), Auckland; Mrs Luke and Mrs Crawford (sccietary). Wellington; Mrs Jlrlland and Mrs Newll (bccrctarj). Chn«tchureh. Ihe conference proved most successful and .nstructive, and amongst the impoi-'.'nt decisions arrived at wcie the followirg:— That tho Christmas gift, uniform in value, bo in tho form of an individual parcel and bo sent to every Now Zealand solder on active sorvce, tin gift to be practically on tho lines of the Dominion Gift s-ehome. Each donor of 5s to have the opportunity of enclosing card of Christmas greetings and post card of local views. Tho articles to bo included to l>e selected from thn io'lowing:—Pipe.'. tobieco. cigaiettei, socks, milk, sweets, chocolate, writing parte, boot, laces, pocket mirrors, strops, handkerchiefs, inject powder, "iur:y powder, ctc. That tho dommion centrec unite in providing. at request of Miss Mackenyio, underwear, shirts etc, for the soldiers on furlough in England. That attention "to tho needs of New Zea Imid prisoners in Turkey bo under'akeii by the four centres, a parcel to be fcrwaided monthly to each prisoner. Interesting reports of tho work done bv tho four centres were received The work eompi ises practically every department of help for tho soldiers in oamp, on transport. outward bound, returning, on active service, and when wounded or inc.ipacitatod. including, also, the oare and cheer of the dependents of the soldiers
