At yesterday's meeting of the Dunedin Presbvtery t-ne Rev. I^. R. Sutherland was appointed Moderator of Presbytery for the ensuing six montihs. At a meeting of the Kaitangata School Committee on Monday evening Mr T. E. Eggleton, of Forbury School; was appointed to fill the vacancy on the staff of that A tablet to the memory of Chaplainmajor Grant, of Gisborne. who was killed at Gallipo'i on August 28 last year,. was unveiled at the Locs-ton Presbyterian Church on Thursday evening by the Rev. The death is reported of Mrs Mackenzie, wife of Mr John Mackenzie, of Fernhill Station, Mount Nicholas, Lake Wakatipu. The deceased was favourably known in the Queenstown district, where she was a prominent active member and worker of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Churdh, in which she was an enthusiastic figure in the Bible elasscs. the 'Sabbath school, and the ohoir. Mrs Mackenzie made numerous friends, and "she passed away after a long and painful Miss Agnes Borrie, 8.A., B.Sc., has been appointed assistant mistress of Columba College. Miss Borrio is a daughter of the late Rev. David Borrie, clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Zen land.

Miss Stewart (president of the Otago Women's Patriotic Association) will leave this afternoon to be present at the welcome to returned wourded soldiers at Clinton in the evening. Miss Burt {secretary) will accompany Miss Stewart. Our Wellington correspondent informs us that Lieutenant-colonel Hume (officer commanding the Auckland district) is leaving that position, and is reported to be going to Wellington for other duty. The Auckland command is being taken over by Colonel G. W. S. Patterson. Canon W. A. Diggens, who, while rector of St. Paul's, Rockhampton (Queensland), took an active part in the building of the cathedral in tliat city, died in England last week. From Queensland ho went to New Zealand, where ho was canon of Dunedin Cathedral Returning to England, he became vicar of St. Stephen's-by-Saltash, Cornwall. An enjovablo evening was spent in the Taieri Bowling Club pavilion on Monday, when members met in largo numbers to bid farewell to Mr Ingpen, postmaster at Mosgiel, who was about to leavo for the North 1 Island, and who has been a prominent member of the club. On behalf of the members the president (Mr C. Findlay) presented; Mr Ingpen with a gold-mounted tobacco pouch, and in doing so wished him every success and happiness in his new sphere. Mr Ingpen suitably replied. A musical programme and supper added to the enjoyment of the gathering Before the ordinary business of the Dunedin Presbytery was taken up yesterday, the Rev. G. H. Balfour drew attention to the fact that Mrs Stevenson, one of the daughters of Dr Burns, the first minister of First Church, had died the previous day. Mrs Stevenson had been in ill-health for some time, but she had always taken a very keen interest in the work of the Presbyterian Church generally, _ and especially of First Church. On his motion the Presbytery adopted the following resolution:—".The Presbytery having learned of the death of Mrs Stevenson, a daughter of the lato Dr Burns, recognises with sorrow that another link with the pioneering days of our church lias been broken. It expresses its deep sympathy with Miss Burns and her sisters, and prays that, in their grievous loss they may realise the consolation and peace of God."
