OTAGO BOXING ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL REPORT. The eleventh annual report of the Otago Boxing Association says: " The committee has had an exceptionally quiet year so far as the sport of boxing is concerned. In common with other sports, boxing has been greatly affected by the war. Only two amateur tournaments were held during the year, both be : for patriotic purposes. The largo number of boxers offering their services for the front made it appear to tho committee undesirable to hold any other competitions. For a similar reason the championships were abandoned. The association suffered severe loss during the year through the deaths (all on active service) of G. Herbert, W. Boreham, A. Lamont, and R. Torrie (competitors), and G. Browning (member). Financially, despite the loss over tho competitions, the year was fairlv satisfactory. It is highly gratifying to record that practically all the pominent boxers have enlisted. The war continues to have an influence on all sports, and members will have an opportunity of discussing tho whole position at tho annual meeting.' The membership for the year was 94, as against 95 the previous year."
