Rallinshaw forwards us an ,' extract from a letter from his son, who was, i, sergeant-major of the Sixth Reinforcements, and is now lance-corporal of the Bth (Southland) Regiment, . and' whose company. " reached Egypt from Gallipoli about December 27, in which he makes reference to the food work that is being done by the <-, 'M.C.A. The following is the extract: — s "The Y.M.C.A. has built us a fine hall, writing room, etc., here, and so far we have been able to spend many very enjoy- • able evenings together. It was opened, about a fortnight ago by General Godley, followed by a concert, which was splendid. There are many clever musicians and comedians here, who prior to joining the colours wore on the stage, and they assisted in providing an entertainment which was appreciated by all." The National Secretary of the Y.M.C.A. in New Zealand has.received the following letter, written on H.M.N.Z. transport No. 46, at sea,' on March 9:—"On behalf of the troops on board this transport we have to thank your association very sincerely for ( your ■ efforts to make the voyage as pleasant s i and as interesting as possible. The mess- - r room evenings resemble one of your oityr reading and writing rooms." The letter is signed by Major W. A. Bennett, O.C; j/ troops, and Lieutenant C. E. J. Martin,' Ship's Q.M.
