PETROL MONOPOLY SCANDAL
MR MORGAN IS CANDID. WOULD MAKE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Preee Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, April 12. Before Mr Justice Pring, sitting as a Royal Commission to inquire into the petrol monbpoly negotiations, Mr Morgan, continuing his evidence to-day, said he mentioned 5 per cent, as his commission. He looked on the matter as an ordinary commercial deal, and was out to make as much as possible for himself. The whole thing would have been submitted to Cabinet, and in the event of the pruning knife being used s he wanted to ensure a substantial brokerage. He would not care if the world knew that he had received 10 or even 15 per cent. He stated that Mr Black (the company's Sydney manager) had said to him that it would come pretty rough on him (Black) if the New South Wales Government took over the company, as he had made the New South Wales agency a pretty good thing for himself.
