The departure of the I' Fifteenth Reinforcements has reduced , the I strength to a considerable extent, and in consequence -the olasa is now being re- , formed. No previous experience is necessary, the main object of 'tihe class being to cater for the man with no previous train- ' ing. At the present time there is a big L ntaiber of men paseed as fit, and any who ,can spare the time to attend the okss will . ' undoubtedly reap future benefit New men will report to Dickel any Tuesday or Thursday evening at 7.50 at the ' Fire Brigade Station.

ST. E3LDA BRANCH. The work of this branch is being vigorously proceeded with. Last week a large quantity of work was passed in, including i parcels from the South Dunedin ■ Presby- , terian Guild, per Mre Fairmaid, and the ' Musselburg'h Methodist Guild, per Mrs Drake. Donations were received from the following:—Mrs Mears, ss; Mrs Stoneham, goods for Belgian relief; Mrs Morrison, Red Cross material; Mre Jacob, garmenta for Lady French Fund;. "A Friend," cuffs. Mrs Ferguson gave £3 for the Serbian Relief Fund. This money was made by the sale of flowers during the .past season! At a committee mooting of the branch accounts in connection with the recent concert were passed for payment. A donation of £1 Is was received from Mr Lister, and the net proceeds amounted to £21 5s 4d. Of this sum £20 was voted to the Otago Women's Patriotio Association for general purposes, ■ and £1 for the Wellington Soldiers' Club. ■ It was decided to spend £10 on material for Red Cross work, Mrs Sims and Mrs Hawngs being elected a Buying Committee. i i ■

As a. good deal of work is on hand at 1 the club room, worfeas are invited to attend on Wednesday and help. The soldiers' comfort boxes are to be filled, and there is other work for* the Pont de Koubbeh , Hospital to bo .finished up. Donations of foodskulls, such as condensed milk, preserved fruits, chocolate, chutney in small paste bottles, seeded raisins, and Ivelcon will be gladly accepted, and soap, tobacco, and cigarettes will also bo welcome. On Friday the members of ihe club will giro their assistance in the street coPiction. It ,is hoped that those who can wiQ help. The club room ie open from 10 aon. till 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.

The Red Cross Guild met as usual on Friday. The attendance was excellent, and a ; great quantity of work was done. Tho stalT in the street (which is to be Iheld on the second Saturday in each month) was an undoubted success, and tho ladies in charge aro to be coiwrratulated on their arrangements. The sum raised at 3 p.m., when everything was disposed off, amounted to £28 4a lid. A garden fete is being arranged by the Ministering Children's Leairue, at Melrose, half the, proceeds of •which will'be devoted to tlhe soldiers'orphan children in England and half to the local Bed Cross.
