GERMANY AND BELGIUM.
THE LIE TO BETHMANN HOLLWEG'S SPEECH.
AMSTERDAM, April 7. In the Reichstag, Herr Haast said that the injustice which had been done to Belgium was at last to be compensated by the restoration of its independence.—(Uproar.) In 1913 Herr von Jagow declared that Germany would uphold Belgian neutrality. Herr von Jagow, replying, said that when he made this declaration he conn sidered Belgium was a neutral country, but, since then he had thoroughly proved her guilt. He added that if a French deputy had said a quarter of what Herr Haast had said his colleagues would have stoned him. The Kaiser has congratulated Dr von Bethmann-Hollweg on his forceful speech.
