CITY POLICE COURT
Saturday, Apeil 8. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Drunkenness. —A first offender was remanded for seven days for medical treatment. Another was fined 5s or, in default, 24- hours' imprisonment; a third 7s, or 24 hours' imprisonment, and a fourth 10s or 48 hours' imprisonment. James Fairley was fined 5s or 24 hours' imprisonment.—— Christina Aldred was convicted and discharged on condition that she did not come before the court again. A Dual Offence. —William George Buckley was charged with drunkenness and also with assaulting his wife. —Senior Sergeant Dart said that the parties lived in the North End. Late the previous night accused had words with his wife, and 6track her a blow. His Worship said that the accused should be ashamed of himself, but on account of his wife he would give him a chance. . He would bo fined 5s or 24 hours' imprisonment on the first charge, and convicted on the second and ordered to come Up for sentence when called upon any time within 12 months. Theft of a Bicycle.—John Smith, on remand, was charged with, at Glenavy, stealing a bicycle, valued at £6, the property of Albert Marsh.—Accused was remanded until Tuesday.
\ 2 Mrs M'lsaac, of New Plymouth, Jias received a cable from her son, Regimental Quartermaster-sergeant Athol M'lsaac, stating that he has received a commission.
