GRAND OPERA

M. Saldaigno's seoond presentation of ; excerpts from two of the most charming of grand operas at His Majesty's Theatre last evening was productive of oommen- ' dation in an aocentuated form on that bestowed on Tuesday evening. The programme was in-sußstanoe '-the .same acts, or portions of them, from "Samson and Delilah" and "Cavalleria Rastioana," being given with quite the success attending the previous performance.' _M. Saldaigne sustained the tenor part in both instances. Mrs R. A. Power appearing as Delilah. In the first act from Mascagni's opera he had the assistance of not only Mrs Power, but of Miss Violet Barth, Mr Jack Prentice, and Miss Maggie Mao Donald. Mr Hart repeated the eucoeas he had! attained previously in one of the moat beautiful airs •in the opera of Donizetti's "La Favorita," and Miss Mac Donald pleased the audience with her singing of one of Mignon'a songs from the opera of that name. ' The additions to the original programme were vocal selections by Mrs Power, Mr Prentice, and a further portion of " Samson and Delilah " by M. Saldaignc. Mrs Power is to be congratulated upon the merits of her effort in her selection from " Alccste," Mr tice improved on acquaintance in his farther musical contribution, and M. Saldaigno was artistic in his extra grand opera number, albeit it would not be likely to meet with the same degree of appreciation aa | tie music incidental to t£~.e great scema between Samson and Delilali. /
