ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per United Pbess Association.) ' WELMNGTON, April 6. The Director of Base Records has received cable advice that a sailor named G. Mafchieson, on the hospital ship Marama, had his leg smashed. The limb had l to be amputated. The unfortunato victim is reported to be doing well. Any .person knowing the name and address of tnis man's next of kin is requested to notify the Ease Records Office, Wellington. CHRISTCHURCH, April 6. Michael Cowan, aged: 58 years, a cattle driver, was rushed by an animal in a mob he was driving at Riccarton to-day. The horee was 'gored and threw Cowan, who fell on his head and broke his neok. OAMARU, April 6. A motor car accident occurred near Papakaio, 15 miles from Oamaru, to-night, when Mr George Gardiner, the well-known auctioneer for Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., at Oamaru, was killed as the result of a collision with a dray. The deceased, who was 30 years of age. belonged to Gore. He had enlisted for the Sixteenth Reinforcements.
