(Per United Pbess Association.) ' WELMNGTON, April 6. The Director of Base Records has received cable advice that a sailor named G. Mafchieson, on the hospital ship Marama, had his leg smashed. The limb had l to be amputated. The unfortunato victim is reported to be doing well. Michael Cowan, aged: 58 years, a cattle driver, was rushed by an animal in a mob he was driving at Riccarton to-day. The horee was 'gored and threw Cowan, who fell on his head and broke his neok. OAMARU, April 6. A motor car accident occurred near Papakaio, 15 miles from Oamaru, to-night, when Mr George Gardiner, the well-known auctioneer for Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., at Oamaru, was killed as the result of a collision with a dray. The deceased, who was 30 years of age. belonged to Gore. He had enlisted for the Sixteenth Reinforcements.
