MESOPOTAMIAN CAMPAIGN
TURKISH FORCES AT ERZEROUM. CUT OFF FROM MAIN ARMY. PETROGRAD, Febrnary 1. (Received Feb. 1, at 10.15 p.m.) An Austrian hostile corps, purposing to join the Turkish troops in the Erzeroum region, is restricted to a narrow space and is unable to pass forts. Owing to Russian successes, the Tnrkish forces at Erzeroum and Melazghert are cut off from the rest of the army. TURKISH REPORT CONTRADICTED MERELY A TRANSPOSITION. LONDON, February 1. (Received Feb. 1, at 10.15 p.m.) The India Office denies the Turkish :e----port that a British column was repulsed: at Kurna, in Mesopotamia, and that 100 were killed. It states : "We repulsed an Arab attack on the Styra> inflicting heavy loss."
