| MALTA HOSPITALITY. " ANZACS " ENTERTAINED. SYDNEY, January 25 The secretary to the Governor of Malta, in a letter expressing appreciation of the war chest fund, states that 20,250 "Anzacs" were entertained in the tea rooms at Malta in six months. KILLED AT GALLIPOLI. EDUCATED EN NEW ZEALAND. ' SYDNEY, January 25. Lieutenant Molloy Dodwell, killed at the Dardanelles on December 19, was educated in New Zealand, and was a prominent athlete. • BROKEN HILL STRIKE. MUNITION' WORKS CLOSED. SYDNEY, January 25. Despite the Amalgamated 1 Miners' Association's announcement that men are permitted to supply power to the munitions works at Broken Hill, the works remain idle. GERMAN PRISONERS. GOVERNMENT WILL NOT EMPLOY. MELBOURNE, January 25. Senator Pearce has refused to sanction the employment of German prisoners in the preparation of settlement farms for returned soldiers. EAST AFRICAN OPERATIONS. NO SERIOUS OPPOSITION. LONDON, January 24. Mr H. J. Tennant (Under-Secretary for War), replying to Sir E. A. Cornwall, describing the recent operations in East Africa, said that a small force of Germans cm December 6 attacked a weak observation post io miles from Mombasa. The British occupied two places in German territory, and there was no serious opposition. Rain was hampering operations.
