WOOL SALES
A STRONG MARKET. (Per United Phkss Association.) WELLINGTON, November 2L The Department of Agriculture has received tho following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, November 18, in regard to the closing of the colonial wool sales: —" Wool sales closed with a strong market and a demand greater than the supply. America and tho Continent are toying freely, and Russian orders for army clothing helped the market. Best wools are in small supply, and the prospects are favourable. Ten thousand bales of slipe wools were held over. Estimated values are: —Superior merinoa, Is 5d to Is 8d; medium merinos, Is Id to Is Id; inferior merino 3, lGd to Is; fine crossbreds, all grades, Is 6d to Is 3d; medium, Is 4d to Is 7d; coarse, Is 2d to Is sd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received the following cablegram frofii its London office: —'' Sale 3 closed. . Market strong. Compared first October, merino inferior 5 to 7£ per cent.; scoured superior and medium, par to 5 per cent.; lambs, 5 per cent.; scoured: crossbred 1 and fine greasy, 10 to 15 por cent.: slipe, 5 to 7£ per cent.; greasy lambs, 7g to 10 per cent, higher " Tho National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand l is in receipt of a cablegram from its London office, reading as follows: —"Merinos generally 10 per cent., fine crossbreds 12£ per cent., medium and coarse crossbreds 10 per cent, in advance of opening rates; slips wools generally 5 per cent, above opening rates.'
