SALE OF WORK
A sale of work was opened in the Gymnasium Hall, Kaikorai School, yesterday afternoon, under the auspices of the Ladies' Guild of the Roslyn Branch of the Church of Christ. The object is to raise something towards providing for extras in connection with the new building recently erected, ood also to- enable lie church to ■ accomplish, some beautifying l work about the grounds. A good deal of taste haa been evidenced in the arrangement of the stalls, refreshment rooms, etc., and the effect is decidedly pretty, without incurring any unnecessary expense. The supply of goods embraces a great variety, showing that the ladies have worked hard, particularly when it is considered that the sale is being held a little earlier than was at first intended. Mr Watt, wiho performed the opening ceremony, made a special point of the fact thai it was a sale of work; 1 it was not a bazaar, there being no raffles or anything of thai nature, but only plain ■> straight-out sales. The stalls comprised needlework, plain and fancy goods, .articles for children and babies, sweets, produoe (including poultry, toys, etc., etc., and a Christmas tree. The refreshment rooms, in addition to supplying tea and cakes, offered strawberries and cream and other delights particularly welcome at this time of the year. The stallholders were as follow:— Christmas Tree—Miss Sundstrum. D'Oyley and Handkerchief Stall—Mrs . M'Kenzie and Miss Morton. Flower Stall—Mrs J. Brown and Miss L. Brown. Fancy Stall—Miss Sinclair and Mrs Chase. Children's Stall—Miss Thomson and Mies Alexander. Ladies' Stall—Mrs Alexander. Mrs Thomson,' and Mrs fhmdstrum.
