MAGISTRATE'S COURT, PORT CHALMERS.
Fkiday, November 19. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.)
Judgment Summons. —The Otago Fishermen's Union (for whom Mr Platts appeared) sued William Arthur D'Orident for £5 16s 6d on a judgment summons for oil and benzine supplied.—Mr Platts said judgment had been given against the defendant last, January, but no payment had been made in the meantime. —Defendant said he would not pay the money over to the secretary of the union for certain reasons, and in reply to the magistrate, he agreed to pay the money into court.—An order to that effect was made, withs costs (6s). Maintenance.—Alioe Mary Watson _ sued her husband (William Watson) for maintenance for herself and child. On the case being _ oalled, _Mr Hatts, who appeared for plaintiff, appUed for a. short adjournment in order to confer with Mr Irwin (defendant's solicitor) with a view to effecting an amicable settlement. On resuming, Mr Irwin said his client suffered from bad eyesight and was not able to do much work. He was, however, quite agreeable to give his wife one-half of his earnings.—An order was made accordingly.
