SYDNEY HEAT WAVE
Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, November 18. (Received Nov. .19, at 0.25 a.m.) There was a. renewal of the heat wave to-day! The thermometer in the city registered 95 degrees in the shade. A slight telegraphic blunder has been the indirect means of disclosing a clever scheme | initiated by the Germans with the double I purpose of securing trade profit and of disseminating political ideas in foreign countries (writes our London correspondent). Just before the war tflie Germans began erecting chocolate and cocoa works. When war broke out those firms found their market closed, but by ingeniously copying the trado marks, boxes, and general get-up of a number of chocolate manufacturers they have been able to dispose of their chocolate through neutral countries. They have, also used these boxes as a means of circulating pro-German literature. The Mangonui correspondent of the Auckland Star reports that the epidemic of typhoid amongst the Maoris is not yet over, for the disease keeps breaking out in new quarters. He had been told by those thoroughly conversant with the disease, its ravages, and its dissemination, that it was impossible to deal effectively with it unless the Maoris werp quarantined, as they were during the smallpox scare, and prohibited from travelling round from kainga to kainga. Ho had heard that a ca6e of meningitis (a Native) had been reported from Takahue. The mortality during the present epidemio had surpassed that of u)l previous outbreaks, and more vigorous methods of combating it should be immediately adopted. —To widen a stroot in Boston, the stonebuilt Pelham Hotel, S6ft high and weighing; 10,000 tons, was moved a distanoo of 14ft in 70 hours. LOOK TO YOUR STOMACH. When the food leaves the stomaoh without having gone through the reqaisito process, as happens in cases of indigestion, it is impossible for the liver to complete the work. Therefore, look to your stomach —strengthen and stimulate it to perform its functions. There is no better medicine for this than Chamberlain Tablets. Chamberlain's Tablets will cleanse' your stomach of all undigested food end restore it to a healthy condition.
