FAREWELL AT MILTON.
The quota of volunteers from Group XVI area (South Otago district) assembled at Milton headquarters on Wednesday evening, to answer the roll-call, in the first stage of their services on behalf of the Empire. They were entertained at the Fire Brigade concert during the evening, and afterwards at supper at the Y.M.C.A: Rooms, ae guests of the Fire Brigade, St. John's Club, and the Y.M.C.A. The volunteers again paraded yesterday morning to catch the express for Dunedin, where they joined the Otago contingent. The residents turned out in largo force to do honour to the departing volunteers, but the Regimental Band again failed to put in an appearance. The volunteers, including the Southland section, were accorded hearty cheering as the train steamed out.
