FATALITIES.
(Pes Unjtzd Pkess Association.) WHAN GAREI, November 15. Andrew Meldrum, a tailor, 40 years of age, went in for a swim at the town wharf yesterday at 1 o'clock. Ho gave a few strokes, and then called for help. His companions brought him to the shore, but lifo was cxtinct. He died apparently from heart failure.
An accident, which resulted fatally, befel Mr W. H. Lindsay at Drummond on Staturday (says the Southland Times). It appears that he was schooling a horse over hurdlea and sustained a fall, the horse coming on top of him and inflicting severe injuries. The sufferer was taken to Inveroargill, but died at the hospital on Sunday. The deceases was the son "of the late J. B. Lindsay, and was much respected throughout the district.
