Tho High Commissioner reports as follows on November 13 (Note ; The quotations, unless otherwise specified, aro the aver ago market prices on spot): — Meat; A poor demand continues for all descriptions of frozen meat at lower prices on acoouni of a large supply of home-ialled mutton. Canterbury—light-weights, 7|d; heavy-weights, 6J<l; ewes, s|dLamb: Canterbury two's, 7Jd; heavyweight four's, 7id; second-class quality, light-weight, 7id; other brands than Canterbury, Ysd for best quality; light-weight, ordinary quality, 7gd. Beef: New Zealand, 6eoond-class quality —hinds, 6id'; fores, 4id; chilled hinds, 7id; fores, • sidThe butter market is quiet, but steady. There is better demand for best quality, but tho supply of low-grade exceeds tfie demand. The Danish market is firm at an advance up to 170s to 1745: Siberian, 124s to 1325; Argentine (good demand), 156s to 1575; United States, 140s to 150s; Irish creamery, 150e to 1545. The New Zealand market is cleared. Cheese: The market remains, firm, but quiet. Canadian —white 86a to 88s, coloured 87s to 89s: English Cheddar, 36s to 100s; Cheshire, 102s to 106s. The New Zealand market is cleared, and the United States supply is practically exhausted. Hemp: The market is. firm at the advance. There is a better demand for hemp, as the stock is small. New Zealand good fair on spot, • £36; fair, £34; Manila—new gradec) fair, ,£4l; coarse, £34; January to March shipment—New Zealand, good fair, £35 10s; fair, £33 10s; Manila, new graded fair, £41; coarse, £33 10s. The output from Manila fpr the week was 18,000 bales. Wool: The market is very active and strong. All stocks are advancing, and the prospects are favourable.
