AUSTRALIAN WHEAT HARVEST
THE POOLING SCHEME. LONDON CRITICISM'. Pxess Association—By Telegraph.—-Copyright LONDON, November 12. The Grain and Seed Reporter says that, while there is justification for the Government controlling the wheat trade this season in order to prevent famine prices in Australia, it is not clear that such control is necessary for the coming season, nor certain to be beneficial to the Australian grower. Probably it would be better if its disposal were left in the hands of the grain trade. If wheat is offered at a fixed price, it will have to compete with Canada, America, and the Argentine, all of whom are in a position to accept the best price without waiting.for instructions. A meeting of Australian shippers resolved to assist the board to carry out the scheme to the best advantage.
