SCOTTISH BORDERERS' ASSOCIATION.

Mr E. W. Glendining presided at the second annual business meeting of the Scottish Borderers' Association, and there was a small attendance of members.

The annual report and balance sheet showed that the association had come through the strenuous times with good results. Tiio report showed that out of 42 members from the Border districts serving with the New Zealand forces nine -had lost their lives, eight had been wounded, one reported missing, and one invalided home. Sympathy with the bereaved relatives and hopes for the speedy recovery of those suffering from wounds were expressed. The sum qf £2 was given to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and £11 9s,- the proceeds of a concert and lecture at Mosgiel, was given to the Highlands and Islands Belief Fund. The association was on the right side financially. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the chairman emphasised the necessity of increased active interest 'in the association, pointing out that much could be done by -way of assisting the various patriotic movements during' the present crisis. Burns (re-elected), AlexBathgate, Robert Gilkison, and William Richardson; executive—Messrs R. W. Glendining, W. Richardson, W. Ripley, A. Clark, W. Hislop, James Caldwell, and Rev. Jas Lymburn (all re-elected), Mr Wm. Glaister, Misses J, Burt, N. Dunn, and A. Murray., It was decided to hold another picnio early in the,new year. A donation to the Dunedin Pipe Band was voted, and several new members were enrolled.
