TROOPER MILLER.

Trooper W. D. Forrest Miller is tho second son of Mr James Miller, of Maungatua. He is 24 years of age, and was educated a£ the Maungatua School and the Otago Boys' High School. SSnee leaving school he has followed farming pursuits. On the outbreak of the war ho enlisted in the First Expeditionary Force, but was rejected on account of defective teeth. After having his teth attended to he left the dominion as a member of the mounted rifles, with the Fourth He was severely wounded in the shoulder in an engagement on August 21, and was invalided to England. He was placed in the First Southern Hospital, Birmingham, where he is -making a good recovery, and hopes soon to be able to go back to the ifront. Previous to tho coming into force of compulsory military training, ho was a member of the Otago Hussars, being a splendid horseman, and a most daring rider. Ho is a brother of the present captain of tho Otago Hussars (Captam_ Jas. A. Miller), who also enlisted in tho Firsts, but a long and serious illness, ending in a dangerous operation, prevented him from doing his duty as he intended. These boys come of fighting stock. Their great-grandfather on the maternal side fought under Nelson at Trafalgar, and a grand-uncle took part in the battle of Waterloo. Another brother, not yet 20 years of age, is preparing to go to the front. *
