ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Oamaru Trotting Club took, place yesterday, and attracted *a, large attendance from the north as far as Ohristchurch, and from the south as Dunedinv \ What, otherwise would have proved \ a fine'day waa! marred by a etrbng southerly gale, which blew clouds, of dust over the grounds, practically during the whole time that the racing was in progress. So thick was the. dust that it was almost impossible, to distinguish the horses, except when they were in the straight,,and even then only tno leading division could'be seen. A protest was lodged against B. Jardin. the driver of Arthur Dillon, in ,' the Trial Handicap on the grovmd of alleged, interference with Oxendale, but after hearing all the evidence 'A, wae dismissed. Favourites won nearly every race on" the programme. ' The totalisator investments amounted to £14,015 10s, as against £12,758 for the corresponding day last year.
