A DUNEDIN MINISTER ENLISTS.
The Rev. A. R. Gordon, -who was appointed by the last Methodist Conference as second minister in the Dunedin (Dundaa street) circuit, with special. charge of the Glenaven and Ravensbourno Churches, has felt it is duty to enlist for the war 'as a private soldier, and has received the consent of the president of the conference and his circuit officials. At a meeting of the latter on Monday evening, the Rc.v. S. Griffith, presiding, a resolution was unanimously adopted endorsing Mr Gordon's decision, and wishing him god-speed in tho service of the Empire, at tile same time regretting the interruption to his ministry, which had already won for him the esteem of young and old. Mr Gordon is a son of Mr R. N. Gordon, of Roslyn, and' was born and brought up in Ihinedin. After a successful primary course he attended the Otago Boys' High' School, <ind ho passed the first section for the B.A. -r> e ° rCO - a ' *' lc Qk 1 !? 0 University College. On being accepted as a divinity student at tho Auckland Methodist Theological Institution, he oompleted his university course, and graduated as Master of Arts at the Auckland University College. Mr Gordon expects to leave for Trentfiam on the 12th jnst. Two of his former fellow students at the Methodist Collogo, Auckland, have *l*o enlisted—Messrs S. J. Mogridge »and E. T. - Olda.
