(Received Mar. 8, at 9.20* p.m.) • At the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the alleged corruption in connection "with the Wheat Acquisition Act, evidence given by a number of farmers and others in the Coolaman district showed that a deputation interviewed the member for the district and Ministers about the Bill. Subsequently an agent was appointed to cancass the district with the object of obtaining subscriptions with a view to taking steps, to secure the cancellation of wheat contracts. Witnesses gave varying versions of how the money was expended. Some said they had been told it was to go to Labour causes, and others that it went k> pay a solicitor for putting the subIcribers' case before Ministers. One witness alleged that he' had been told that £ZOO was paid to the caucus.
