A Press Association message advises of the death on Tuesday, January 5. at Levin, of Mr John Hyndman Russell, at the age of 82 years. Deceased was born in Staffordshire, England, and emigrated to the Australian Bailarat goldfields. He arrived in Dun od in in 1860, and took part in the Gabriel's Gully rush, then going to the West Const, whore he worked in the same mine as the late Hon. R. J. Seddon. They were close friesds. Mr Russell arrived in Wellington in 1874, and took part in the Parihaka campaign, and came to Levin in 1896. Ho lived there since, and had been ailing for tho past 6ix months. He leaves a family of seven members.
