Friday, January 29. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Drunkenness.—John Miscall, who had been once previously convicted for drunkenness during the past six months, again appeared in answer to a charge of this nature, and was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment Alexander M'Lennan was charged with being found on licensed premises during' the currency of a prohibition order, and was fined £2, and costs (7s), in default 14 days' imprisonment. By-law Offences.—William Dunford was charged with driving horses on the Upper Portobello road not in harness or secured by a halter —Senior Sergeant Dart explained that the Bay Town Board had been having a great deal of trouble with wandering horses, and it desired the nuisance to be abated.—Mr Scurr, who appeared for the defendant, stated that the defendant's horses were in no way responsible for any damage to the footpaths that had taken place. Arthur James_ Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of riding a motor cycle in Princes street at a greater speed than six miles an hour and was fined 10s. and costs (7s). On a charge of allowing cattle to wander in Water street, David James M'Donald was fined ss, and costs (7s). Richard Mitchell was charged with driving sheep in South Dunedin during prohibited hours.— After hearing evidence, his Worship imposed a fine, of ss, and costs (7s).
