CHILDREN'S MISSION
<» ADDRESSES BY MR EDMUND CLARK The mission being conducted among th( young people oi this city by Mr Edmunt Clark was continued yesterday afternooi and evening. In the afternoqn, at the St. Clair Beach a sand-modelling competition was held bi tho mission, who attracted a large numbe: of children. The text, "Jesus, who lovec me, and gavo Himself for mo," was madi in the sand, each of the letters being- abou Bft in length, and tho whole text covering about 100 yards. The outline was made b; Mr Clark, and tho children formed tho let tore, ornamenting them according to thei own taste. Tho plan adopted by the mis sion proved itself to be a very efficaeioui as well as attractive method oi inculcating Scriptural truths. At 6.30 p.m., at the Choral Hall, th< missioner gave a talk to young people, th( subject being "The Hidden Man." M; Clark explained that the human hear devoid of Christ's lovo was desperately wicked, and inclined to evil. When th< influence of Christ was allowed to have it way anger gavo way to love, deceit ti truth, disobedience to obedience, and prid< to humility. The missioner illustrated these changes by a clever mechanical device. Mr Clark delivered a very impressive an< helpful address at 8 o'clock in the Chora Hall, before a large audience, comprising young people and adults. He took as hi: text John iv, 10, "If thou knewost the gif of God," the title of his- subject being .'Tin Satisfied Life." Mr Clark has a strong and winning personality, and he expoundei tho text in a most attractive and origins manner. There were many young people he said, who, as in the case of the womat of Samaria, were asked by Christ, ''Givi Me to drink." They refused to consent t< tho ruling of their lives by Christ, boeausi they thought they would have to give, uj too much that was pleasant. These young people did not know of tho satisfied life ir Jesus Christ. They clung to the showy am unsatisfying things of life, and neglectcc the things which really mattered, and whicl would make them contented and -happy. Mr Clark will continue his mission to-day At 3 o'clock this afternoon ho will meei the children on the St. Clair Beach anc conduct a cathedral sand service. In th< evening, at 6.30 and 8, he will hold meet in,gs in the Playfair Street Hall, Caversham
