SUNDAY SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS.
The examiners, Messrs W. H. Roberts and A. C. H. Button, of the Dunedin Diocesan Sunday School Union, have submitted the following report and results for the year 1914: — Upon the whole the results are satisfactory. Judging by tho answers the papers set" seem to have adequately covered the syllabus, and "given ecope for tho ehildren to set down broadly what they have been taught. In Grade A there were but few candidates, and we fear that many scholars do not tako their Sunday school work wi;h tho same seriousness they display at the public schools. In Grade B the work -was satisfactory, but in Grade C there are only four first classes, while many have been content with passes, and there aro more failures than usual. Grade D was quite up fco tho usual standard. We notice all tho papers show that the younger children tako a lively interest in their work. As it is difficult for young children to express themselves on paper this grade was specially satisfactory. For the senior grade we set some questions which require careful thought, and in many cases these have been -well answered, but there are evidences that, some have not fully grasped the meaning of work thev have memorised. Two hundred and ninety-six examination papers were forwarded to tho examiners from the various Sunday schools throughout the diocese. The following scholars obtained first class passes: — Grade A.—May Davis (St. Paul's), Doris Davie (St. John's), Claudino Provo (St. Mary's). Grade B.—Esme Bentham. Dorothy Minims (St. Mary's).
