DEATH FROM A GUNSHOT WOUND. Mr C. C. Graham (coroner) held an inquest at (Jrokonui Home, near Waitati, yesttraay -morning concerning the aeath oi George Williams, whose parents reside in Cumberland street, Duncdin. Deceased, who was about 17 years of age, went out rabbitshooting- the previous day, in company with a younger brother and a young man about 24 or &> years of age, and by some means his gun exploded and the cnarge of shot lodged in his abdomen, death following almost instantaneously. The facts elicited at the inquest were that the three went out shooting on Waitati Hill, deceased being, about five yards in tront of his brother, the young man following, 30 or 40 yards further away. Deceased had a single-barrelled breech-loading gun. lie hud crossed one stone wall, and was approaching another, when his gun went off. At the moment the grin went off his brother happened to turn his back, so that he did not see what actually occurred. He heard tlio shot, and on looking round sa.v his brother lying on his back, -with the gain beside him. The brother oalled to the young man in the rear, aud when they saw what had happened one of them ran down the hill to Opcke, where Dr Rilov was staying. In the meantime a Mr White cam© along in his cartj. and when he discovered the condition of matters he put the body in the fu.it. with tha idea of removing it to Orokonui Home. Dr Riley came hurrying up the hill, met the cart, and examined the body. He found that the unfortunate lad was quite dead, and that he had a wound about ljin wide in the lower part of the abdomen, from which the intestines were protruding. From the observations ho made the doctor formed the opinion that the cause of death was shock and hemorrhage, the result of the gunshot wound. A verdict was returned that death was caused by shock and hemorrhage, the result of a gunshot wound accidentally selfinfiictcd. SUFFEKED AGONY WITH HEADACHES. " I highly rccommend Chamberlain's Tablots to anyone who suffers from headaches," says Mrs M. K. Berry, Marlborough road, Victoria Valley, Tasmania. Now, I would' not bo without a box of Chamberlain's Tablets in the house." —Sold everywhere. 'Hie price of bread in Cbxyjtohuroh was 1 raised Id as from Monday. The cost of the 41b loaf is now 9d.

A man ie judged by the company he keeps, and a good judge of Whisky can be told by what he drinks. If he dricks "WHITE HORSE" Whisky, you can take it that hi; is a connoisseur. 'The taste for old Whisky is increasing, while that of young and cheap is decreasing. It is quality that makes reputation, not quantity. —6
