The question the court had to decide was: Does the preparation and dressing of wood used in the construction of frames for -wire mattreasea come within the definition _ of "cabinetmakers' work," or the varnishing of such woodwork within the definition of " polishing " ? Should such work be paid for at award rates, as per clause 2 (a,) (journeymen) or clause 5 (a) (apprentices)? The court's answer is as follows" According to the strict technical interpretation of the award, tho preparation and dressing of the wood mentioned in the question submitted is cabinet-mdkers' work, and the varnishing mentioned is polishers' work, and it is permissible that the work should be done either by journeymen or by apprentices. A patient in Queensland was accepted after treatment by Mr Martin, according to tho J. A. Sherman method of curing rupture. Tho doctor on examining this would-be recruit discovered evidences of former ruptures (on both sides), but on testing him fully passed him as thoroughly cured.
