LATE ADVERTISEMENTS. rpUE BIBLICAL RECORDER. An Australasian Monthly. Edited by Rev. P. B. ERASER, M.A. (Author of "A 'Brief Statement ot the Reformed Faith" ; .Fifteenth Thousand;. .Some appreciations ot the "Brief Statement'' are as follow: - I tie late Earl Koberts, within the past Jew mon 1.1 i.s, wrote, sending an autliogiaph portrait:—"l have read it with great mti».cst, and am glad to have the liUle book by me." Admiral Mahan, U.S.A. (the great naval authority), wrote: "1 have read it attentively ami with interest. It is pleasant, to recognise how entirely the people of .lesus Christ are at one in iilc great 1 undaiiienlals of the Faith." Similar letters of appreciation have been received from Ivord Piunket (former Governor of New Zealand'), from Sir Joshua Wilbsuus, who said it was beautifully lucid and one of the most interesting things of the kind he had road), and Irom many other distinguished names, including the billowing : — Abraham Kuyper, D.D., Professor of Theology at the University of Amsterdam, "tho greatest living theologian," Ex-i'riruc Minister of Holland, says:—"lt seems to nie to bo just what it ought to be— shoit, clear, complete." Principal Alexander Why to, D.D., Edinburgh:—"i have read it with admiiration and benefit, and can subscribe to every word of the Assembly's approval." ltev. Dr J. Wilbur Chapman:—"To me it is a wonderful statement of truth, i have never seen anything better." The Bishop of Durham (Dr Moulc) says:— "It is admirable in its blended restraint and decision in the statement of fundamental truth ... so distinct and profoundly orthodox." Professor James Orr, D.l>. (Glasgow), says:--"It is admirable in conception, arrangement, and expression.'' Professor James Denny, D.D., says:—"l have read it with great interest, and' appreciate highly the spirit in which you have faced and accomplished so difficult a task. I am not surprised at its success. ... I am sure it will interest and profit everyone uho reads it, and I sincerely hor>e it may have a great success." Professor W. M. Clow, D.D., says:—"i have read it with delight and real help to my faith. 1 am impressed with the spiritual passion which breathes through it, and with the balance and reasonableness of the statement. It is not only high-souled dogmatic; it is also apologetic." Professor D. H. Cairns, D.D., says:- —"I do not think I have seen any such interesting and popular re-statement of the Presbyterian position. Most such statements are very flat, but this is well written. . . . The spirit is excellent." Rev. Dr Whitelaw (Moderator of the United Free Church) says: —"I think it is an admirable summary of the substance of the faith, simply, clearly, and happily expressed." Rev. Dr Fitchett (Southern Cross) writes: "It is really a triumph of literary skill. . . . It is a presentation of the creed which, by its clearness of definition, will help the student; but by its atmosphere of reverence, and the contagion of its adoring faith, will help the penitent, give comfort to tho sick-bed, and reinforce all godly purposes in men and women who stand in the hurry and strain of daily life." United Free Churcli Monthly says: — "One of the best summary statements of tho Christian Faith that has ever come into our hands." The Presbyterian (Philadelphia):—"An admirable formula of faith." The Presbyterian Churchman (South Africa): —"It puts m beautiful and appropriate language the Faith of tho Church. . . . it is heartening and refreshing." Rev. G. H. Morrison, M.A. (Glasgow), says; —"It is most admirable . . . it ha 3 the true air of sober and serious calm." Rev. John Urquhart:—"lt is a gem." Rev. Dr G. Campbell Morgan, London, says: —"I have read it with peculiar delight. Its clarity, and tho beauty of its diction, are most valuable. I hope I shall not shock you when I say that some of the statements I am hardly in perfect agreement with, but that comes from the fact that I suppose I am not a Calvinist. This, however, does not, for a moment, militate against my admiration of the book, for I have long ago concluded that this old time controversy will never be settled until we see ail things in the ultimate Light, and I greatly value any statement of the particular views I now refer to, which are as reverently made as yours are, and with such delicate sympathy for those who may not share them." Rev. A. H. Dryedale, D.D., ex-Mbderator Presbyterian Church of England, author of "Christ Invisible Our Gain," etc., says:— "An exquisite statement of the Reformed Faith. You have laid us all under very deep obligation, and it is the highest credit to have produced a gem attracting such notice from the highest and most diverso quarters. Your phrases are extremely happy and choice, and sure to retain their hold. I thank you for your precious morsel." Rev. Principal P. T. Forsyth, D.D., says: "I am not surprised at the appreciation of the booklet by the illustrious names recorded."
