Two men driving a motor car'in Mona Vale, near Manly, failed to obey a sentry, who fired, wounding both, but neither seriously.

DE WET HOTLY PURSUED

Colonel Maude has been rescued. It was reported that he had been wounded, and that two of De Wet's sons had surrendered.
NUMBERS OF REBELS SURRENDER
PRETORIA, November 23. (Received Nov. 24, at 0.5 a.m.)
Official: The Union forces are hotly pursuing De Wet. The latter crossed the Vet River and headed towards Boshof. He then divided his commando, and himself, wit.i 25, doubled back and attempted to cross into the Transvaal, but was driven back. One thousand of De Wet's followers, after hearing of the amnesty proclamation at Grootbock, abandoned their arms, and are now surrendering in batches. Several other batches have been captnred, including 60 near Senekal, 40 at Schaahkraal, 30 at Middelfontein, and 30 near Harrismith.
De Wet's band pillaged Winburg. General Botha's advance was so uncx> pected that the rebels were obliged to abandon much booty. The inhabitants declared that De Wet appeared to be half demented, and threatened to born down the town.
