Tho total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,410,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,570,000 quarters. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. (Pee United Phess Association.) WELLINGTON, November 23. The High Commissioner cables, under date November 21 (the quotations unless otherwise specified arc average market prices on spot): — Mutton. —Market quiet. Prices have declined, more being 'offered on account of moderate supplies coming forward. Quotations: Canterbury, 5 15-16 d per lb; North Island, 5 13-16 d. Lamb ia dull of sale. For all lamb prices have declined, partly owing to competition with this season's Australian. Canterbury twos, 6|d; heavy-weight, 6j|d; other than Canterbury, 6id. Beef. —No alteration in the market since last week. New Zealand hinds, 6 3-16 d; fores, 51d. The chilled beef market is affected by decrease in arrivals. Hinds, 6|d; fores, sfd. Butter. —Market firmer, with active demand for high grades. Danish, steady, 139s to 142s per cwt; New Zealand, firm, 126s

to 13Q»; nmalted, 228s to 1325; Australian, firm, with more inquiry, at 124s to 128s; Siberian, in fair demand, 118s, 120b ; Irish creamery, slow, 124s to 130s; Argentine, steady, 120 a to 1245.

Cheese. —The market is firm, with an upward tendency. Canadian white, coloured, 76s to 775. Cannot quoto prices of NewZealand cheese. Tho Corinthio uin dock discharging now.

Hemp.—There is a better demand for hemp on spot, bat transactions are light. New Zealand good fair gTadc, '£22 10b per ton; fair grade, £21; fair current Manila, £23 10s. The output from Manila for tho week was 12,000 bales.

WooL —Market strong. All stocks advancing for all grades of medium and coarse crossbrede, but the market is o. shade •weaker for ail grades of merino fine crossbreds.

Leaving Wellington for London on Thursday afternoon, the New Zealand Shipping Company's mail steamer Itotorm has taken the following quantities of dairy produce from the under-mentioned New Zealand ports: — Boxes Crates butter. cheese. GRAIN AND PRODUCE SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report as follows:—We held our weekly 6ale of grain and produce on Monday, when values ruied as under: —Oats: There has been a strong inquiry for all lines coming under offer of late. The quantity, however, is small Shippers have been operating more freely, with the result that values are firm. Prime milling, 2s 9d to 2s lOd; good to best feed, 2s 7d to 2s 8d; medinm to good, 2e 5d to 2s 6d per bushel (sacks extra.) Wheat : Business in this line is practically at a standstill owing to the want of supplies. Any little lots coming forward are moeting with an excellent demand, and are readily cleared on arrival. In tho absence ol supplies, values quotc<Lare nominal. Milling wheat, 5s 6d to 5s Sra; fowl •wheat. 5a to 5s 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes: Supplies of prime freshly-picked are ; not coming forward freely, and any lots answering this description are meeting with a good demand at quotations. Medium and out-of-conditioned lines are more plentiful and difficult to place. Prime freshly-picked tables, £4 to £4 10s; medium to good, £2 10s to £3 10s per ton (sacks in). Chaff: The market has been barely supplied of late, and any consignments of prime oaten sheaf are meeting with a ready sale, on arrival. Light and inferior chaff is not in quite as good demand. Prime black oaten chaff, £4 10s to £4 12s 6d; best white oaten sheaf, £4 5s to £4 10s; medium to good, £3 15s to £4 per ton (sacks extra).

Quotations are therefore nominally unchanged Milling lines, 5s 6d to 5s 9d; fowl feed! 5s to 5s 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes : The market is moro heavily supplied, but few of the consignments coming forward pan be classed as prime. Best lines meet with good inquiry, and are readily quitted at £4 5s to £4 10s; medium to good have less attention at £3 to £4 per ton (sacks included). Chaff: Prime? oaten sheaf continues to meet -with most favour from buyers. All consignments of this class during the week have'been readily placed at £4 5s to £4 10s, while choice black oat realises £4 10s to £4 12s 6d. Medium to good quality has not the same attention, and is -worth £3 15s to £4; light and discoloured, £3 to £3 10s per ton (bags extra).
