HARRIERS.

Tho weather was very rough for the weekly runs of the Dunedin harrier clubs on Saturday., Tho Y.M.C.A. Harriers ran as the guests of one of their vice-presidents (Mr J. H. Wilkinson, Leith street). The members had an enjoyable run, following a >trail laid by G. B. liastie and W. Stewart, across country to Normanby, up the hill, round to Pine Hill, and home via Woodhaugh. Most of tho time the members had to go through a heavy hailstorm. Afterwards games and music were indulged, in, and the final run. of a successful season was fittingly closed. The St. Kilda Harriers from the Green Island School ran over the hills t-q tho Green Island Beach. Tho pa-ck was in charge of Deputy-captain Govan. Although the wind was strong on the run to tha beach, it was not so bad as that experienced on the run home, when numerous hail and rain showers were encountered. The pack, after getting a good wetting, arrived back at the hall about 4.45 p.m. This was tho last run of the season, and to " wind up " tho eea&on a fancy dress social will be held on October 9 in Wesley Hall, where there will be a presentation of prizes. Tho Pacific Club held its final run for tho season from the pavilion at St. Clair, as the guests of the committee. Despite the wintry weather, a good muster of keen sports faoed tho cold blasts. The hares, Bagley and Newton, laid a good trail leading along tho beach, where the paolc, under Captain Henderson, felt the sting of the fast moving sand and hail. The paper struck up to, tho Tomahawk road, and led around the lagoon, meeting the Anderson Bay road at the top of the hill. From here a good fast pace was set, and the pack reached home, all declaring the run an excellent one. A feature of the day was the participation of a large number of juniors. After removing all traces of the inn, the. members sat down to tea, and did justice to tho good thing's provided. Captain Henderson thanked the committee for its kind invitation, and several of tho committee suitably responded. The evening closed with the National Anthem. CAVERSHAM CLUB'S FIELD DAY. Tho Cavcrsham Harriers held their series of field events and Consolation Race at tho Gardens Ground. In spite of tho bitter rain and hail showers, great keenness was shown, and some of tho performances wero very good. Owing to the treacheixms stato of the ground the Polo Vault was abandoned. The results were: — Broad Leap.—A White (Ift 6in), 18ft, 1; H. Robinson (9in), 17ft llin, 2; F. Fryo (lft 9in), 17ft sin, 3; J. Hewitt (scr) and G. Crimp (lft 9in), 17ft 2in, 4. It provided a fine contest, especially at the finish,' where Hey made a great effort five yards too soon, thus allowing Crimp time to recover and win by inches. There were six competitors. The time was smin 4 l-ssec. Tho thanks of the club. are duo to the Otago Foothall Association for permission to use the ground, to the Northern Club for nso of the pavilion, and to Messrs Lloyd Phillips and M. J.
