The Union Bank has declared a dividend of 10 per cent, and a bonus of 2 per cent. There wa6 added to the reserve £30,000, and carried forward £45,510.

Mr Harcourt, in reply to Mr Ginnell (Independent Nationalist member for Westmeath North), said there was no reason to believe that any natives of Ocean Island; had died of starvation, or been imprisoned for theft, or deprived of their lands, or flogged for non-payment of taxes.
MELBOURNE, July 8.
A party of rabbiters found a 20oz gold nugget in some old alluvial -workings at Buninyong (near Ballarat), and subsequently an outcrop of payable quartz was discovered.
The steamer Star of India has sent a wireless message stating that she sighted four large icebergs on Friday in latitude 4?ideg south, and longitude lOSdeg east, and that their position is dangerous to navigation.
